Before You Start: FDM Files vs. Resin Files

Before October 2026, many subscribers successfully printed Loot Studios Resin files on FDM printers using custom settings and community-created workflows. These files were not specifically designed or supported for FDM printing.

Starting in October 2026, Loot Studios is introducing dedicated FDM-ready files that have been specifically refined for filament printing.

If a bundle includes FDM support, we recommend using the dedicated FDM-ready files whenever available.

If a bundle does not yet include FDM files, you may still attempt to print the existing Resin files on an FDM printer, but these files are not optimized for filament printing and results may vary.

What Are Loot Studios FDM-Ready Files?

Loot Studios FDM-ready files are versions of our models specifically refined to work better with FDM printing.

Rather than simply converting our Resin files, we remodel or refine specific areas of the 3D models to enhance their printability and reliability on an FDM printer.

These changes are designed to preserve the model's silhouette, proportions, and personality while making certain areas better suited for filament printing.

FDM-ready files are included with your subscription at no additional cost whenever available, as long as you are an active subscriber.

If you're no longer an active subscriber, you won't receive new FDM updates for previously owned bundles. You can regain access to future FDM updates by becoming an active subscriber again.

Are FDM Files Included in My Subscription?

Yes, when FDM files are available and you are an active subscriber.

Active subscribers with an eligible Fantasy subscription receive access to both Resin and FDM versions of eligible Fantasy bundles at no additional cost.

This applies to subscribers who currently have access to the eligible bundle.

Not all previously released Fantasy bundles currently include FDM files. We will gradually expand FDM support across selected existing Fantasy content.

Do I Still Get the Resin Files?

Absolutely.

The introduction of FDM files does not replace or modify our Resin files in any way.

Resin files remain unchanged and continue to be available as part of your subscription.

You can continue using Resin exactly as you did before.

Which Printers Are Supported?

Our FDM-ready files are initially optimized and tested for the Bambu Lab ecosystem, including:

• Bambu Lab A1
• Bambu Lab A1 Mini
• Bambu Lab P1 Series
• Bambu Lab X1 Series

While FDM-ready files may work on other printers, our initial official testing, documentation, and support focus on Bambu Lab printers.

We plan to expand support and resources for other printers and printing setups over time.

Do I Need a Special Nozzle?

For the officially tested experience, yes.

Loot Studios FDM-ready files are designed and validated using a 0.2mm nozzle.

A 0.4mm nozzle is not the recommended setup for the intended level of detail and is not part of our officially tested configuration.

Please note that a 0.2mm nozzle is not included with most printers and may need to be purchased separately.

What Scale Are the FDM Miniatures?

Our standard FDM miniatures remain in 32mm scale, matching the rest of the Loot Studios catalog and helping ensure compatibility with your existing collection and tabletop games.

FDM support initially covers:

• 32mm miniatures
• Terrain
• Props

Some models or pieces outside the standard scale may be identified as Epic Scale when available as FDM-ready files.

Please note that 75mm scale miniatures and busts are not currently offered in FDM format.

Is FDM Quality the Same as Resin?

FDM and Resin are different printing technologies, and each has its own strengths.

Resin printing generally produces finer surface details, while FDM offers advantages such as:

• Easier setup and maintenance
• No resin handling
• No washing or curing process
• Simpler post-processing workflow

The goal of our FDM-ready files is to provide the best possible miniature experience for FDM printing while preserving the look and character of the original models.

FDM print quality can vary depending on factors such as the printer, nozzle, filament, print orientation, and settings.

Can I Use the Files on Other FDM Printers?

Possibly.

While many users may successfully print our FDM-ready models on other FDM printers, Loot Studios initially optimizes and tests these files for the Bambu Lab ecosystem using a 0.2mm nozzle.

Our official documentation, testing, and support currently focus on this setup.

Results on other printers may vary, and other configurations are not officially supported at this time.

Where Can I Find the FDM Version of a Bundle?

When a bundle includes FDM support, the FDM-ready files will be available directly within the bundle download page in your Loot Studios library.

Bundles that include FDM support will clearly indicate the availability of FDM files.

If a bundle has received FDM support and you do not see the files in your library, please contact our Support team.

Are All Loot Studios Bundles Available in FDM?

No.

Starting in October 2026, every new Fantasy bundle released by Loot Studios will include an FDM version alongside the Resin files.

We will also gradually bring selected previously released Fantasy bundles and models to FDM as we expand the catalog.

Not all historical Fantasy bundles currently include FDM files, and there is no announced timeline for complete catalog conversion.

At this time, FDM support is planned for Fantasy content only. Sci-Fi bundles are not currently scheduled to receive FDM files.

If I Already Own a Bundle, Will I Receive the FDM Files When They Become Available?

Yes, as long as you are an active subscriber when the FDM version becomes available.

If you already own an eligible bundle and its FDM version is released in the future, the new FDM-ready files will be automatically added to your library at no additional cost.

There is no need to repurchase the bundle or take any additional action.

If you are no longer an active subscriber, you will not receive new FDM updates for previously owned bundles while inactive.

To receive future FDM updates, you will need to become an active subscriber again.

Will Sci-Fi Bundles Receive FDM Files?

At this time, FDM support is planned for Fantasy bundles only.

Starting in October 2026, every new Fantasy bundle will include FDM-ready files.

Sci-Fi bundles are not currently scheduled to receive FDM files.

What Happens If I Cancel My Subscription?

Files you acquired while your subscription was active remain yours according to the terms of your subscription.

However, new FDM updates released after you become inactive are only provided to active subscribers.

This means that if you own the Resin version of a bundle but are no longer subscribed, you will not receive a new FDM version if that bundle later receives FDM support while you are inactive.

You can regain access to future FDM updates by becoming an active subscriber again.

Which File Formats Are Included With FDM Downloads?

Which Slicer, Filament, and Print Settings Do You Recommend?

For the officially tested experience, we recommend:

Additional setup guides, profiles, and recommendations will be available through our onboarding materials and community resources.

What Is the Recommended Workflow for Printing FDM Files?

The basic workflow is:

1. Download the FDM-ready files from your Loot Studios library.
2. Open the files in Bambu Studio.
3. Make sure your printer is configured with a 0.2mm nozzle.
4. Apply the recommended profile and settings.
5. Slice the model.
6. Print the model.
7. Assemble the model if necessary.

Will the FDM Models Fit on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini?

FDM-ready models are designed with the Bambu Lab ecosystem in mind.

The Bambu Lab A1 Mini is part of our supported printer ecosystem.

Some larger models or props may be divided into multiple parts to improve printability or fit within the build volume of supported printers.

Additional model-specific recommendations will be included whenever necessary.

Are FDM Models Split Into Parts for Assembly?

When assembly is required, the necessary parts will be included with the download.

Are Assembly Guides Included?

Assembly guides will be included for larger or more complex models when necessary.

Specific models may also include assembly instructions within their download package.

What Should I Do If a Part Is Missing, Doesn't Fit, or Appears Incorrect?
